The Blackbeard Legacy comic series features gay themed love story.
BELLINGHAM, WA - Bluewater Productions popular pirate series The Blackbeard Legacy is featuring a story arc that involves a gay male love story.
Publisher Darren G. Davis said" We really wanted to do something that was unique for this story arch. Our main character Hanna helps Robbie Buckle on a quest, which she beleives is for riches -- but turns out to be for love. We also wanted to show a deeper side to our main character and when Eric pitched this story we jumped on it right away."
Bluewater launched it 1st gay themed book last year with Lost Raven, a story about a lawyer who finds out he is HIV positive.
Writer Eric Arvin said "I have been asked before why I included a gay subplot in The Blackbeard Legacy. My response is, Why not? I'm a little amazed that its still a big deal. I'm gay; I write from a gay perspective. Its there in everything I do, everything I create or write. What I write is a reflection of me to some extent. Strangely, I never hear a straight writer asked why one of his/her characters is straight. Having said this, I like the idea that young comic book readers who are gay might be able to identify with my characters. The gay characters sexuality in Blackbeard is not an issue. This is what one might term revisionist history, but then, all fiction written nowadays about the past is revisionist. I like the idea that in some small way I might be helping to bring gay characters into the mainstream in comics.

PIONEERING COMIC BOOK WITH GAY LEAD GOES DIGITAL
April 8, 2008
For Immediate Release
Smashout Comics, an online comics publisher specializing in quality digital reprints and original material, announces the return of THE DESERT PEACH, Donna Barr's pioneering independent comic book of the 1980s.
The main character in this groundbreaking series is the Pfirsich Rommel, the gay brother of Germany's famous General Erwin Rommel, "The Desert Fox," The concept of a gay officer in the WWII German army was a shocker back then, liberating everything from gay comics to the depiction of enemies and friends, as well as the place of female creators in an art form that had formerly been almost completely male.
"The Desert Peach is the Desert Fox's gay brother," says Barr. "He's handsome, suave, intelligent, self-aware, but no matter how he tries, he keeps ending up in the German Army -- mostly to watch out for his brother, Erwin. If you like history, comedy and irony, if you want a real book that will make you cry, gasp, laugh, get pissed off or do the happy dance, this is for you. Parental advisory: contains stupid adult tricks."
"I'm pleased to offer The Desert Peach at Smashout Comics," says Steve Horton, editor-in-chief of Smashout. "The art is amazingly dynamic, and frankly, Desert Peach is hilarious."
"How do I feel about being the first non-gay comic to include gay characters?" says Barr. "More enlightened -- and more ahead of my time -- than most of the comics industry. And my guy is more well-rounded and human than any of the others. No brag, just fact; ask my gay readers and the people who love them."
Nine issues of The Desert Peach are posted to e-book site Wowio. There are a total of 35 issues, including a Desert Peach novel and play, that will be posted in the coming months.

Global fans stampede YaoiMagazine.com to order Vol. 1 Issue 1 of Yaoi Magazine!
York , Penn. - January 18, 2008 The first issue of Yaoi Magazine was made available for purchase on the YaoiMagazine.com website as well as on Amazon.com January 15, 2008. In the first day alone, sales exceeded S. A. Payne's (publisher) original expectation. "In just a few days orders have surpassed our original expectations by over 300%," said Payne. "We knew the market was out there, but I'm shocked to see how many orders are coming in, some for multiple copies! We've had orders placed from four countries outside of the U.S. as well."
The Yaoi Magazine website has had a recent upgrade as well and is now showcasing samples of the variety of items you can find inside the first issue. Yaoi Magazine has certainly realized its goal of packing a magazine full of boy-on-boy goodness. The magazine boasts four pieces of original fiction, two manga, a variety of articles and reviews, art, and a beautiful, full colored centerfold that can be detached for display. There are also a number of ads from prominent members of the global yaoi movement, truly showing this is a magazine for the yaoi community.
"We're already hard at work on the next issue of Yaoi Magazine, due for release April 2008," Payne informs. "We've already lined up a number of features for the second installment, but we are accepting submissions for more."
It was noted that no updates had been received regarding the progress on issue one of Yaoi Magazine, which may have caused concern. In light of the recent withdraw of other English magazines that were to launch in the last year, Payne simply stated “We wanted to create a quality product, and in doing so our focus was on taking our time, doing everything right, and building up the fan base for Yaoi Magazine. We may have been a little low-key, but our goal from the start has been to complete issue one before accepting any purchase orders for the magazine. Now that we're comfortable, we'll be shifting some of our focus to create a swirl in the yaoi community, making sure everyone knows we're here. We'll be happy to begin accepting pre-orders for issue two in the coming weeks. At this time all purchases will be on an issue by issue basis, until we're certain we can guarantee the product the global yaoi fan deserves if they're buying a full year's subscription. Orders can be made on the site at www.yaoimagazine.com."
Chayne Avery and Russell Garcia are proud to announce the hardcover publication of their graphic novel "Boy Meets Hero" by respected German publishing house, Bruno Gmunder. A numbered and signed limited edition will also be available exclusively through www.BOYMEETSHERO.com beginning in May.
"Our long time readers are going to really be surprised at how much improved the graphic novel is over the version they've read online." says Russell. "We've added in several brand new scenes as well as improved and enhanced the art throughout. Our fans are gonna love it!"
Be sure to visit the website www.BOYMEETSHERO.com for all the latest news and some behind-the-scenes peeks at the production of the graphic novel. "10th Muse" inspires CastleBright Studios with a film option.
BELLINGHAM, WASH. (December 3, 2007) - CastleBright Studios has optioned "10th Muse" comic book series by Darren G. Davis and Blue Water Productions. The popular comic book series has just been optioned by producers Jay Douglas & Nav Gupta and their newly formed NBC/U-based CastleBright Studios.
Created by Darren G. Davis (The Legend of Isis , Ray Harryhausen Presents and Judo Girl), the "10th Muse" is vastly unique in the comic book universe with its deeply enriched themes of Greek mythology. The "10th Muse" debuted in 2002 by breaking records as the 6th highest selling comic, outselling nearly every Marvel and DC property and has been flying off book shelves ever since. Darren G. Davis knows how to build compelling characters and stories ripe for the big screen, as his The Legend of Isis is currently at Paramount Pictures.
Greek mythology has documented the nine Muses, the inspirational daughters of the almighty god Zeus. But history forgot one the 10th Muse. Emma Sonnet, mysteriously disappeared five years ago during a summer trip to Greece celebrating her graduation from law school. Yesterday, she resurfaced just as mysteriously as the newly appointed District Attorney, with a unique take on the law. Battling evil in the courtroom by day and in the shadows at night, Emma Sonnet is tipping the scales of justice her way, as the "10th Muse".
Davis who is managed by Golden House Entertainment says,"CastleBright shares my vision for this to become a film and I am excited to be a part of this."
Douglas and Gupta freshly set up shop at NBC/Universal, and even without a formal deal, they are quickly establishing themselves as adventure guys, recently picking rights to the best-selling Scorpion novel and the internationally-acclaimed Broken Sword video game series.
"We know there were many suitors vying for this property, but somehow the Greek Gods smiled upon us." said Gupta from CastleBright. Talks have already begun with starlets for the headliner role.
Gay-Themed Webcomic "Boy Meets Hero" Wraps Up First Ambitious Story
After two years of delivering a unique, colorful, and fun story, Chayne Avery and Russell Garcia, creators of "Boy Meets Hero" announce the conclusion of the free online version of their comic. In addition, they are excited to announce their ongoing series "Blue Comet and Fusion" will premiere in print in 2008.
The current web-comic and the new ongoing series will debut in printed form in early 2008 starting with a brand new prequel #0 issue. The creative duo will publish the current online web-comic as "Blue Comet & Fusion: Boy Meets Hero" in individual "Enhanced Edition" issues. For a limited time, the current full comic of "Boy Meets Hero" can be viewed online for free at http://www.boymeetshero.com
"Boy Meets Hero" is a light-hearted yet touching story about a gay superhero and his struggle with coming out. Derek, a.k.a. Blue Comet, has spent most of his young life training to be the best superhero he can be but his life is thrown into a tailspin when he falls in love with his superhero partner's brother, Justin. What follows is the story of Derek's coming out and coming to terms with being honest with himself and others. In between the drama, "Boy Meets Hero", features fun superhero action, colorful costumes, over-the-top villains and settings.
What inspires artist and co-writer, Chayne Avery? "Growing up I loved to draw. Science-fiction and comic books quickly became my inspiration. The reason I decided to create this comic in the first place is because gay characters in mainstream comics rarely have a meaningful relationship of their own."
Chayne and Russell began work on the comic in January of 2005 and since debuting online in August of 2005, BoyMeetsHero.com has garnered much praise and tens of thousands of hits from all over the world.
Co-writer and colorist, Russell Garcia says, that what makes the comic unique is that "it is a fun blend of superhero action and poignant gay drama. Also, I don't know of many other comics produced by two gay men who are not only creative partners but life partners as well." Chayne and Russell met in 1993 while attending college in New Mexico.

FANCY by Dale Lazarov and Delic Van Loond joins AdultWebcomics!
http://www.adultwebcomics.com/comics/fancy.php
FANCY is a series of man-on-man erotic fantasy comics - barbarians, princes, wizards and woodsmen who find love and lust in sensual, enchanted landscapes. The first story currently being serialized from FANCY is "Hospitality", a tale of a wandering barbarian swordsman who finds shelter, comfort, tenderness and hot, hard sex in the arms of a burly village blacksmith.
Dale Lazarov is best known as the writer/editor of STICKY, a collaboration with illustrator Steve MacIsaac that was first published by Eros Comix/Fantagraphics and collected in hardcover by Bruno Gmuender Verlag. Best-selling author Clive Barker described STICKY as "Sexy, stylish, minimalist.. .an intense mixture of erotic realism and the freedom of comics storytelling makes STICKY a pleasure to have in one hand."
With accomplished European erotic artist Delic Van Loond, Dale now brings STICKY's brand of carnality and sweetness to sexy fantasy characters and settings. "Everyone's invited to read FANCY as hypermasculine heroic adventure fantasy types have long been protagonists in the erotic imagination, not just for gay geeks or female fans of slash and yaoi art. That said, Delic and I go through great pains to make sure the protagonists of these stories relate to each other on a human level in order to enhance the experience of sensuality and romance inherent in hard man-on-man sex. Another inclusive aspect of FANCY is the intentional lack of captions or dialogue; anyone who enjoys erotic illustration can immerse themselves in Delic's clear, compelling, gorgeous erotic comics storytelling and fantasize their own dialogue."
Delic Van Loond adds "It's great to work with Dale on this series; his writing brings a real humanity to the characters despite their fantastical settings. He creates a back-story for each protaganist and it's been a fun challenge to show that to readers in a dialogue-free story. I also think it adds to the sensuality when there's empathy with the characters. Combine this with swords, leather, magic and muscles and you have an olde worlde feast of hotness!"
Lazarov & Van Loond's FANCY updates every Saturday at adultwebcomics.com.
